A Night in the French Quarter

Katie and Evan's French Quarter wedding on March 12, 2023 began at The Pharmacy Museum and ended at Bevolo, Gas and Electric Light Museum, just a few blocks away.

Katie's floral palette was muted spring blooms in shades of white, blush pink, mauve, deep rose with touches of pale orange and coral. Her bouquet showcased our unique design characteristics of heavy texture and whimsy. This look was achieved through the incorporation of chocolate cosmos, clematis buds, blooming spirea as the main source of green, brown lisianthus, and one of our favorites, the checkered fritillaria. Roses and Garden Roses served as the weight and solidity of the design and white sweet peas and blush butterfly ranunculus added to the bridal feel.

For the ceremony at The Pharmacy Museum, we added blooms to the gates of the archway in the courtyard leading to the fountain in the back. Because of the damp tropical climate of New Orleans, this existing structure was already naturally covered in thick beautiful vines and greenery. We were able to give the illusion that the flowers were part of the established flora by using draping smilax as the base of our design.

After the ceremony, the newlywed couple and guests headed to Bevolo Lighting Museum for their cozy and intimate reception.

The guest table layout for the evening was three large banquet tables running down the center hallway. Our design, paired with the candle composition of Royal Events, was broken into three elements; low, full compotes, stems encased in gold cloches and small pin cup arrangements.

Focusing on the rich color palette, the textured compotes in simple black bowls reflected Katie's bouquet without the white elements.

The more playful and delicate blooms (dyed tulips, ranunculus, lisianthus, butterfly ranunculus, spirea, chocolate cosmos, icelandic poppies and clematis buds or kibo) were highlighted inside the moss based cloches, black pin cups and mini cake display in the room closest to the Royal Street Entrance.

Some of Bevolo's exquisitely designed lanterns hang on the side wall from the entrance of the shop/museum and further down the central hallway. We adorned the wall lanterns with draping smilax and pops of color from roses including the delicious Shimmer, Kahala, Barista and Moab.

Our statement installation for the reception was an asymmetrical design decorating the entrance into the dining area. The recipe for this install remained rose heavy with carnations and stock added for depth and interest.

Overall, we loved how the floral color palette perfectly complimented both the ceremony space and the reception venue. The muted warm tones allowed the altar design to seamlessly blend in with the existing foliage, and enhanced the cozy atmosphere of the fire lit shop and museum.

Special thanks to all the vendors and their helpers!
